Directed Reading Program
The Department of Mathematics typically runs a Directed Reading Program each quarter. The program is similar models run at many universities around the country: graduate students in the department of mathematics volunteer to mentor undergraduates in learning of some mathematical subject during a single quarter, usually through reading selections of a book or other expository text together.
The program is informal and students do not get any credit for participation (though you may list your participation on your CV, etc). Rather, the program is a good opportunity to explore mathematical topics beyond the undergraduate courses. For students curious about mathematical research, writing a senior thesis, or pursuing graduate school in mathematics, the Directed Reading Program is a good opportunity to explore mathematics beyond the classroom format. Keep an eye out for announcements, and contact drp@math.northwestern.edu if you have any questions.
