A new approach to the quantization of abelian varieties is suggested based upon introduction of the Heisenberg groups of quantum tori. Using this, it is shown that deformed multiplication turnes the spaces of classical theta functions into morphisms of a graded linear category, which can be considered as a quantization of Mumford's algebraic desciption of abelian varieties.Date: Saturday, April 28, 2001
