Abstract:
The subject of this talk is a coupling technique that applies to certain totally asymmetric particle systems > and interface models. Infinitely many processes are realized on a common probability space so that they are connected by a variational formula at the level of paths of particles. The technique reduces the proof of a hydrodynamic limit essentially to an application of Kingman's subadditive ergodic theorem. We illustrate this in examples such as the marching soldiers model and the related generalized exclusion process, and the simple exclusion process with a blockage.Date: Saturday, October 21, 2000
