Abstract:

The Hard-Lefschetz theorem and the Hodge-Riemann bilinear relations touch many parts of algebraic geometry. Classically this involves the choice of some positive cohomology class, such as (a power of) the first Chern class of an ample line bundle. I shall discuss a generalization of this package of ideas to Schur classes of ample vector bundles. From this we obtain various applications, including some new log-concavity type inequalities of characteristic classes that can be thought of as higher rank version of the Khovanskii-Tessier inequalities. All of this is joint work with Matei Toma.
