Abstract:

Over the past few decades, there have been various toric constructions for the mirror to a Calabi-Yau complete intersection in a toric Fano variety. Sometimes these constructions yield non-isomorphic mirrors. In the context of homological mirror symmetry, these "alternative" mirrors should be derived equivalent. In this talk we will explain how these derived equivalences are proven using variational geometric invariant theory. If time permits, we will discuss how these mirror constructions shed light on a more general theory for Calabi-Yau complete intersections in toric varieties. This is based on joint work with Charles Doran and David Favero.
