Abstract:

I will describe some Diophantine problems descending from the Mordell conjecture (theorem of Faltings) and how some functional transcendence statements (analogous to the classical Schanuel's conjecture) might be useful in solving them, following a strategy of Pila and Zannier. The main tool will be o-minimal geometry.
