Abstract:

Anosov diffeomorphisms are structurally stable--this means that after small perturbations they remain conjugate. But a stronger result holds for them: thanks to the work of Franks and Manning we know that any Anosov diffeomorphism on a torus is conjugate to its linear part. In the partially hyperbolic setting, one know that a small perturbation is enough to ensure some form of stability (Hirsh-Pugh-Shub). In this talk, I will address the problem of global stability of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms isotopic to Anosov and also discuss some problems related to the dynamical consequences of this stability. This is joint work with T. Fisher and M. Sambarino.
