We will talk about our recent improvement of the eigenfunction restriction estimates of Burq, Gerard, and Tzvetkov, in the assumption that the manifold has nonpositive sectional curvature, using Hadamard paramatrix on the cosine kernel of the Laplacian on the universal cover of the manifold. Similar method applies to getting a better estimate for the integral of the eigenfunctions over a geodesic on a Riemannian surface, which is directly related to the error term in the Kuznekov trace formula.
