Abstract:
Given a symmetric monoidal category we can study the group of invertible objects, known as the Picard group. For example the Picard group of the stable homotopy category is just the integers, generated by S^1. The situation is more interesting when we consider the K(n)-local Picard group, where K(n) is the n-th Morava K-theory. I will review the basic theory, as well as outline work in progress in constructing so called 'exotic' elements of the Picard group at height n=p-1.Date: Monday, November 25, 2013
