Abstract:

Several years ago,in a joint work with Maxim Kontsevich, we introduced the notion of Cohomological Hall algebra (COHA) for 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau categories. It is expected that COHA is a mathematical incarnation of the algebra of "closed BPS states" envisioned by Harvey and Moore in the 90's.

In my talk I plan to discuss (some of) the following topics:

a) relation of representations of COHA to knot invariants (and more generally to geometric engineering, possibly with ramification);

b) The reduction from 3-dimensional to 2-dimensional Calabi-Yau categories, which relates COHA to preprojective algebras, Kac conjecture and (semi)canonical bases.
