Abstract:

The mapping class group of a Riemann surface has a finite presentation obtained from generators and relations which can be understood through basic geometric models. In this talk I will discuss how to generalize this approach to the symplectic mapping class group for some higher dimensional symplectic manifolds. The different models we obtain for the relations are then shown to have homological mirrors that are well known birational transformations. I will formulate a correspondence between chains of these relations, a rarely seen fiber polytope and the set of minimal model program runs on a toric stack.
