Abstract:
I will discuss a space of stable coherent sheaf quotients of the rank n trivial vector bundle on Riemann surfaces. It gives a compactification of the space of holomorphic maps from Riemann surfaces to Grassmann varieties. The construction connects with Gromov-Witten theory on the one hand, and leads to relations in the cohomology ring of the moduli space of curves on the other.
