Abstract:

We will begin with an exposition of the conjectural local Langlands correspondence, which aims at a classification of the irreducible representations of reductive p-adic groups, and then focus on the recent construction of its depth-zero part by DeBacker and Reeder. After this we will describe the conjectural endoscopic transfer of L-packets and its recent proof for the depth-zero correspondence. This transfer is an instance of the Langlands functoriality principle and besides being of interest within representation theory, it also plays an important role for number theory, for example in the stabilization of the spectral side of the Arthur-Selberg trace formula.
